Consultations
Patients who have suspicion of cancer or who have already been diagnosed may come in for a Consultation. Our patient-based care will help us to determine the best plan of care for you should you need treatment, tests, or just routine follow-up visits.
We also provide full services in diagnosis and treatment of all hematology (blood) disorders and boast the only US Board certified hematologist on Guam.
Chemotherapy
Cancer Center offers a variety of treatments for patients with all types of cancers. Patients may be given chemotherapy, either orally or intravenously. With chemotherapy the different goals are:
1. Total Remission leading to cure
2. Delay/Prevent recurrence
3. Slow down cancer progression
4. To relieve symptoms
Treatment may include other modalities in combined therapy such as radiotherapy and/or surgery.
Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy is also called biologic therapy; treatment that uses certain parts of the immune system to fight diseases such as cancer. This can be done in several ways, by stimulating the patient's own immune system to work harder or smarter to attack cancer cells or administering immune system components, such as man-made immune system proteins.
Bone Marrow Biopsy & Aspirations
A bone marrow biopsy and aspirations is performed to determine if any blood disorders, cancers, or infections are present. We pride ourselves in delivering near complete PAINLESS bone marrow sampling, usually a quite painful examination in the hands of less skilled providers.
Therapeautic Phlebotomy
Patients with blood disorders such as Hemachromotosis (iron overload) or polycythemia (excess red cells) may be treated with therapeutic phlebotomy (bleeding) to decrease the iron or red cell level in the body.
Infusion Therapy
Administering different medication either intravenously or intramuscular we are able to treat conditions such as:
· Cancer
· Pain Management
· Excess of blood cells
· Deficiencies of blood cells such as anemias and platelets
· Rheumatoid and other Arthritis or immune diseases
· Osteoporsis
· Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
· Infections
Often, these treatments when administered timely and rapidly in the Clinic will avoid unnecessary prolonged and dangerous hospitalizations.
Targeted Cancer Therapy
Targeted cancer therapies are drugs or other substances that block the growth and spread of cancer by interfering with specific molecules involved in tumor growth and progression. Many of these therapies focus on proteins that are involved in cell signaling pathways, which form a complex communication system that governs basic cellular functions and growth, such as cell division, cell movement, cell responses to specific external stimuli, and even cell death.
